Joe Keller - Steampunk Sculptures, Airships & Lamps

Heather MacLeod - Mixed Media, Printmaking

Josef Keller and Heather MacLeod are a husband-wife team of artists, based in Brownfield, Maine, and specialize in the unique, the unusual, the funky and fun. The Cassidy Gallery At Jackson Village is pleased to offer their one-of-a-kind, never-to-be-replicated lamps and assemblages, certain to inspire curiosity and conversations for years to come. They work independently as well as collectively, as they 're-purpose' and 'up-cycle'.

Josef Keller: "Artwork has been my passion since I was 5 years old, drawing on a roll of brown wrapping paper. In 1979 I bought my first airbrush, which opened a whole new field for me. Two months later I did my first murals on the tailgate of a pickup truck and assorted tee shirts. I moved to Taos New Mexico in 1980, built a solar heated home and started painting tee shirts, motorcycles, helmets, lowrider cars and pickup trucks and vans as time and opportunity permitted. My pencil drawings and airbrush fine art demonstrations were included in the first "Meet the Artist" show in Taos in 1984 and a juried show at one of the many galleries there.

"The use of an airbrush in blending colors and shading has broadened and changed my current style. While I am still striving for realistic representation of life, an abstract interpretation either in form or choice of color also suits me.

Heather MacLeod: In the largest sense, my art is about the joy of discovery and connection. I create art like making a puzzle. I search for interesting pieces and find ways to put them together. I like to use things that are broken, discarded, or worn out by time or the elements. I find pieces that have been well used and well loved. These things have deep meaning to me. I have a subconscious connection to them. I notice the beauty in their ugliness and find value in their worthlessness. I know that they have potential. I see them as part of a bigger whole, and find a way to reconnect them.

"My art reflects an even bigger truth about life. Everything is connected. There is great joy in discovering yourself through art, and in so doing, discovering greater meaning in life itself. Art and Life. Discovery and connection. Lots of pieces. One big puzzle..."
